A tad bit Balmain
Yep, I'm another one of those girls that has been influenced by the Balmain spring 09 collection. But how could I not be??? It's so perfectly rock and roll.
This is my variation on it. The weather has finally cheered up here so I didn't need a jacket, I created the structured look with a corset instead. The marbled jeans were a good find on the Urban sale rack, I think I need to distress them a bit to complete the look.

Rock and roll dreams
I've been trying to plan my wardrobe for my weekend in LA and it's really brought out the rocker in me.. everything I envision is all black and studs and leather. Not a bad thing but not my usual wardrobe. In an attempt to not let it get too dark I threw on this white blazer and decided to go with brown accessories.
I'll be taking all my camera's on the road (Holga, polaroid, 35mm, D10) so there should be lots of lovely photos for you to see on Tuesday when I return.

I have been admiring Krystal's 'ugly pants' over at What is Reality Anyway?
I am a huge fan of them but I don't wear them that often for fear of ridicule. I know I know, I should have the guts to wear whatever I want, which I do, most of the time, but 'ugly pants' are hard to pull off unless you're 6 feet tall. My short frame doesn't always lend itself to some of the more risky fashion choices I'd like to make. But today I took a bold leap... I pulled out these French Connection trousers that I bought last year, they are huge, high waisted, pleated, everything your heart could desire. And worn with a vintage leotard they look amazing... short legs and all ;)

getting it right...
So here's the outfit I was trying to achieve the other day but failed miserably. Today it all came together, skinny jeans, booties, studded belt and that splash of plaid.

...here I come
What started out as a simple LBD turned into a slightly boho look today with the addition of my fur vest and my fringe boots. The boots were a great find, Gucci knock-offs by Guess. The fringe on them is fantastic and makes a great noise when I walk! It was a bit windy for photos today as you can see :)

Weather or not...
We've been having a lot of weather here this weekend which is very strange for Phx. It was cold and wet so I pulled out my plaid Zara tunic which I experimented with. I usually wear it over skinny jeans as it's pretty short but today I decided to be a bit risky and wear it with tights. I'm usually a hater of that 'I forgot to wear trousers' look but this worked... it must be a combo of the booties and thick tights.

Poor Coco
I've got a shoot this afternoon and wanted to be comfy so I threw on my boyfriend jeans and a nautical top. Unable to handle the simplicity of the outfit I ignored Coco's advice (take one thing off before you leave the house), and instead just kept adding things! An antique coin bracelet, a necklace, rings and, in an ironic nod to Coco, my Chanel handbag ;)

A touch of plaid
Today was one of those days where my outfit just didn't come together as I hoped... I'd seen this shot of a model rocking a tucked in plaid shirt and I wanted it for myself. But when I went to get dressed I realised all my jeans were in the wash, except this Acne pair that are a little too short on me. They are also stright leg so couldn't rock my booties, I had to wear a regular heel instead. So there it is, half of the outfit I wanted to wear! I'll have to try this one again after I've done some laundry ;)

A new fringe?
I've been toying with the idea of growing out my fringe. My hair has been the same for almost a year now which is a long time for me. I look at so many photos of models and love their long locks, and I thought the center part and wavy style would fit into my boho look for summer.
I saw this photo on Some Notes on Napkins and envisioned it as a good 'in between' look, in between long and short that is. It's from the Thread Social spring lookbook....
But then I go and see images like this and I desperatly want a fringe again. By the way, this is the perfect summer outfit, I just found a fringe vest at forever21 to copy the look, This is from elle.com :
So what do you think? Fringe or no fringe?

I keep repeating myself....
I know this is a repeat outfit, but I'm not one of those girls that can afford a new outfit for every day of the week, no matter how creative I get. Plus, I'm actually in love with this skirt... I got it years ago and it sat in my wardrobe waiting for the right moment, every time I put it on I felt like a french maid and took it off again. So now that I've discovered how to wear it you'll be seeing it a lot! The key is to wear something long over it to hide the apron effect on the front and let the flirty ruffles on the back just peek out.

Woodstock revisited
The weather has been glorious here recently and it's really getting me in the mood for summer. I was made up when i found this fur vest at Sunset Clothing Exchange when I was in there selling stuff this weekend. It really lends a 60's boho vibe to anything. I wore it with some denim cut-offs yesterday and my flares today.
