Menswear

I found these perfectly boyish trousers while I was out vintage shopping with the girls this weekend. They're a subtle grey color with white pinstripes and the perfect high-waited pleats.

My weekend ran the gamut of experiences. Friday started out with an evening at the museum as part of my Nouveau group. We had about 100 people show up for mingling, champagne and a lecture on the Nouveau period. It was a complete success and everyone seemed really excited about The September Issue event.

Then it was off to my mate Jesse's birthday party... crazy boys, bouncy castle, kegs and hip-hop.
Saturday was spent vintage shopping with the girls. That night was Jeremy's birthday party. A roast no less. Luckily our friends are the funniest people I've ever met, there was a "Jeremy is so gay he....." joke-off, a drag performance by one Judy Fox and cake for days.

Sunday was a day of rest, a little pilates to start the day off right, followed by a facial, a nice meal and Entourage.

The September Issue

I can finally announce the big event at the museum that I've been so busy planning.

Two days after it's premiere at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week 2009, The September Issue will enjoy a special screening to benefit the Phoenix Art Museum's fashion collection. The evening of cocktails and couture is presented by the Nouveau Division of the Arizona Costume Institute.

The evening will include elegant red-carpet arrivals, stylish sounds by DJ Funkfinger, fashionable hors d'Ĺ“uvres by Postino Winecafe, Copper Square Kitchen and more, a no-host bar, and a screening of the film.

The feature-length documentary follows tastemaker and Vogue editrix Anna Wintour as the editor-in-chief and her team of editors, photographers, artists and stylists put together the September 2007 issue of Vogue. The 2007 issue was and remains the biggest issue ever of the standard-setting American fashion magazine, weighing more than four pounds and selling 13 million copies. Through the film, the Nouveau Division is thrilled to offer our guests an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at Fashion Week, at Vogue shoots and reshoots and at closed-door staff meetings between the men and women who create what has come to be known as the "Bible of fashion."

Director R.J. Cutler's film won the Grand Jury Prize for Excellence in Cinematography for documentaries at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and will premier in New York City September 11.

I'd love to invite you all to come, you can purchase tickets here: https://tickets.phxart.org/public/loader.asp?target=daily_events_list.asp?day=09/013/09

Deschanelish

I've coined a new adjective: Deschanelish, it means 'in the vein of Zoe Deschanel'.
Zoe is an interesting creature. I've enjoyed most of her films, found her charming even, but she's starting to ruffle my feathers. You see, every indie/artsy/nerdy/quirky guy out there is madly in love with her. These manboys see her in a film and are captivated by her kooky charm, her wit, her style, her hair, her voice, those eyes... the list goes on and on, she's even in a band! Zoe may or may not be aware of the fact that she has set the bar so damn high- how are the rest of us girls supposed to compete with that?! I do not look that good riding a bicycle, and I suck at karaoke, my hair is straggly and I'm only witty on good days. Ah well, maybe in real life she has bad breath or strange toes.
On that note, here is an outfit that I think is Deschanelish.

The night of 2 cakes

It was my birthday on Saturday and we did it up right. A day of shopping and lunch with my sis, got tarted up with the girls (and enjoyed the first round of cake), then off to the bar to DJ, dance, drink and more cake! I have amazing friends.
