Short Skirts

As much as I adore variety, I inevitably end up chopping the bottom off all my skirts and making them minis. This one was no exception to the rule and met the scissors one Friday night when I couldn't figure out what to wear.

A Whole New Bag - denim shirt and tribal bag

I found this rather splendid bag at Butter Toast on Friday. It had been a manic week between Coachella and moving house and I needed a little pick-me-up after work, so I stopped by my favorite vintage place which did the trick.
I am addicted to all things slouchy, neutral and menswear inspired at the moment.
PS. That's a corner of the new place, all windows and space, it's glorious.

Coachella Fashion Roundup

There was music, there was sun, there was booze and a 60's glam condo. There was sweat, there were celebs, there were throngs of half naked people and there was, luckily, no sunburn. But let's be honest here... this is about fashion. Coachella is like a hippified runway show. I was impressed with the girls teetering around in heels, something most would consider a festival faux pas, but I delight in the extremes the fashion flock go to to maintain chic. Here are a few shots of some fashion I enjoyed along with my outfits.

Day 3's outfit was a hit (vintage top & bag, F21 shorts, H&M sandals and Old Navy shades)

Day 1 (F21 lace top, vintage cut-offs & necklaces, Deena & Ozzy oxfords)

Day 2 (Divas dress, vintage belt & bag, H&M sandals)

Florence was the best dressed by far, I was infatuated with that gold and chiffon amazingness.

Charlotte Gainsbourg rocked her androgynous look.

I loved this girl's Diane Fries top

I will be hunting for a lace dress like this from now on

My gorgeous sister looked so cute in this Divas dress

Dannie wore this great vintage dress on Day 3, she found it the day before we left for the festival

Contradictions and a Tassel Belt

Fashion is full of contradictions and I appear to the be the latest one. It was only a couple of days ago that I was berating the easiness of spring dresses and yet here I am wearing one. In an effort to make it slightly uneasy I decided to rock a curtain tie-back as an accessory. So there you have it, a simple spring dress with a touch of something unexpected, and a pair of clogs for good measure.
On another note, who's going to Coachella... and have you decided what you're wearing yet? I think my sister and I will have to have a costume consultation this evening. The fashion is as much fun as the bands.

Spring Florals - The Ungirly Side

As much as I adore feeling girly I hate looking typical. It's so easy to fall into a spring dress habit but it's not really pushing any boundaries, not that you have to with fashion, but every now and then I like to feel like I've taken a risk or two with my outfits. These thrifted, floral, harem pants cause quite a stir in the office and, worn the wrong way, could really be quite hideous, and it's that almost hideous cliff that I like to teeter on the edge of.

Floral Oxfords

I tend not to mix the words 'shoes' and 'comfortable' in sentences. I am attached to high heels in the way I am to any of my appendages and my collection of flats is meagre to say the least. So, with Coachella and a trip to Europe right around the corner, I thought it was time to invest in a pair of comfortable shoes and these floral oxfords were the perfect blend of boy meets girl.
