Denim Shirt Recovery

I am in recovery from a weekend in Vegas. There was much drinking and gambling, tight dresses and dancing in heels. My body couldn't handle 'fashion' today so I opted for a slovenly denim shirt over a  thrifted mini. The platforms were my attempt at trying to feel saucy again... it worked for about an hour, after which I caved and put on my flip flops. I guess you can't hurry a Vegas recovery ;)

In Search of Halston

If you don't already know, I'm a member of the Arizona Costume Institute and this Saturday night I am throwing a fundraiser at the Phoenix Art Museum. So, all my Phoenix readers, please come out and support our incredible fashion collection! I have the most amazing vintage caftan for the event that I can't wait to show you!

No one represented the 70s quite like legendary fashion designer Halston. In this new documentary, filmmaker Whitney Smith takes us on a fabulous fun- and fact-filled journey through Halston's life and times. 

Join us for a Studio 54-themed party, light hors d'oeuvres and a cash-only bar. 70’s attire encouraged.  Exclusively for this event, original Halston works from the Museum's fashion design collection are on view. 

Cost: $20; seating is limited. Proceeds from this event benefit the Museum's Arizona Costume Institute, which supports acquisitions and programming for the fashion design collection.

Chloe Wedges

What a glorious food filled weekend. Saturday night I cooked dinner for a girlfriend, tapas for a birthday party last night and today was Dim Sum for Carrie's birthday. So, where the inclination came from to wear a high waisted, belted outfit, I have no idea.... really the only appropriate dress code would have been elastic waists and maternity gear.
On a side note I got these Chloe wedges from Buffalo Exchange last weekend. It must have been fate as I'd sold precisely the amount of clothes to pay for these glorious platforms.

Balmain meets Marant meets J. Crew

I love that fashion is so accommodating to my changeable tastes. I can stand in my closet for what seems like eons just trying to gage if I'm feeling bohemian, rocker chic or vintage queen. One day I'm a J. Crew preppy girl and the next I'm a Balmain rocker.... and some days I don't want to decide. So today I've drawn inspiration from 3 of my current favorite collections; The Balmain, decomposing, army green t. The Isabel Marant slouchy shorts. The J. Crew heeled desert boots. What can I say? In the words of Freddie Mercury, I want it all, and I want it now.

When Only Flares Will Do

Do you ever have those days when you just want to look like an extra in Almost Famous? When only flares will do? I've usually gone for the full 70's look, with a tight blouse tucked into the high waist, but my friend Casey inspired me to go baggy all over. I must thank her for that as it might be my fall go-to look, so comfy and bohemian.

California Girls

Pardon the lack of posting this week, I've been in California enjoying a little sun for my birthday. It was glorious, all beach, barbecues, dolphin watching and walking. I feel like a sprightly 30 year old again!
So you may notice I managed to get a little tan, really, if you look closely. (Based on the quality of this photo my creative skills are clearly still on vacation).
