More Shorts

I don't apologize for my fickleness when it comes to fashion. What other school of thought allows you to be so decidedly arrogant and changeable in your opinions from one month to the next? I am steadfast in so many of my beliefs from religion to politics, food to morals. Fashion is a diversion that allows me to contradict myself without consequence and I adore it for that.
When I first moved to Phoenix from the U.K. I was perplexed by the Phoenicians commitment to shorts. They were frumpy and unflattering and so unbearably unfashionable that I couldn't bring myself to feign excitement when we had to cover them in the fashion section at work. Even in the midst of the sweltering heat of summer I would don trousers over shorts and suffer in indignation. And yet, these preposterous garments have not only infiltrated my wardrobe, they appear to be the only item I feel like wearing at all this summer. The short has gone chic. Paper bag waists, high waists, denim cut offs and slouchy safari styles, they're all here and I love them. And I don't have to justify why.

A Few Of My Favorite Things

Here's a video that contains male models, Viktor & Rolf and La Roux. Seriously, what a combination.
La Roux performed a couple of 'unplugged-esque' tracks for the soundtrack of Viktor & Rolf's Monsieur show. The songs are simply haunting in this stripped state and Colorless Color has a soul that I'd missed on the album version. Not to mention, Elly's androgyny pairs perfectly with the show.

A Little Teaser

Here's a little teaser from my shoot this week.... Animal prints out in the desert, gotta love those 4:30am call times. Thanks to miss Lauren Mary for looking gorgeous and miss Laura Flagler for the shot ;)

Safari Shorts

I was on location for a shoot on Safari inspired fashion last week and thought I'd dress the part. Of course the model showed up wearing something eerily similar and we laughed about how, in trying to be original, we ended up looking alike.

Pretty Pictures

I'm off to Jerome this weekend and I plan on recreating this shoot, in my own, slightly less graceful way.

Black Tie Affair

I think I own enough cocktail dresses to give Paris Hilton a run for her money, which was no help me last weekend when I had my first black tie event to attend. I believe that black tie means floor length evening gown and by george I wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to get gussied up. Luckily I had purchased a rather lovely maxi dress in H&M on my recent trip to the UK, "H&M???!!!" I hear you cry! Yes, indeed. It appears I am rather good at dolling up a simple dress and, with a few quick tricks, so can you be.

  • Make sure the cut and fabric of your dress is of a higher quality, we can't do much with cheap t-shirt tat.
  • Go for oversize jewelry to dazzle.
  • Gold accessories tend to spruce up an outfit more than silver.
  • Wear nice heels.
  • Your makeup and hair will add to the glam factor so don't skimp on the labor and products.
