108

It's still over 100 degrees. I'm still wearing shorts. I'm boring myself just writing about it. I have got to spice things up.

Paper Bag Waist

There's something so effortlessly cool about a paper bag waist, so sexy-without-trying.
And as much as I love these shorts for those reasons, I'm pained to wear them because it means it's still over 100 bloody degrees and it's late September! I don't think I can really feel the joy of fashion again until I can don a jacket and not get heat stroke.

Vintage Halston

Last weekend I threw a fundraising event for the fashion collection at The Phoenix Art Museum. We screened Ultrasuede: In Search of Halston and discoed like Bianca Jagger at Studio 54. The caftan was a hit and my girls wowed in vintage 70's pieces.... behold, The Halstonettes!

More photos from the event here and here.

Boyfriend Jeans

After a heavy hitting fashion weekend I tend to veer towards more conservative apparel for a few days (don't worry, nothing too serious). My vintage caftan went down a treat at the Halston event (pics to come) and some rather tight flares did me in at dinner on Friday. So in order to give myself a little fashion break I resort to a simple tank and jeans affair. These slouchy beauties are from Ann Taylor Loft, can you believe it?

Denim Shirt Recovery

I am in recovery from a weekend in Vegas. There was much drinking and gambling, tight dresses and dancing in heels. My body couldn't handle 'fashion' today so I opted for a slovenly denim shirt over a  thrifted mini. The platforms were my attempt at trying to feel saucy again... it worked for about an hour, after which I caved and put on my flip flops. I guess you can't hurry a Vegas recovery ;)

In Search of Halston

If you don't already know, I'm a member of the Arizona Costume Institute and this Saturday night I am throwing a fundraiser at the Phoenix Art Museum. So, all my Phoenix readers, please come out and support our incredible fashion collection! I have the most amazing vintage caftan for the event that I can't wait to show you!

No one represented the 70s quite like legendary fashion designer Halston. In this new documentary, filmmaker Whitney Smith takes us on a fabulous fun- and fact-filled journey through Halston's life and times.
Join us for a Studio 54-themed party, light hors d'oeuvres and a cash-only bar. 70’s attire encouraged.  Exclusively for this event, original Halston works from the Museum's fashion design collection are on view.
Cost: $20; seating is limited. Proceeds from this event benefit the Museum's Arizona Costume Institute, which supports acquisitions and programming for the fashion design collection.
