Leg work

I'm going to see a band called White Denim tonight, they rock my world. I don't actually own any white denim so I'm wearing my bleached out H&M jeans in their honor.

I also rocked some crazy leg wear on Saturday...



Overall it was a good weekend; I bought a sofa, cooked a killer shepherds pie, drank wine with friends... all good heart mending stuff ;)

Moment of clarity

Here are the holga shots from the day that has become known as my 'moment of clarity.' I think they capture the mood of the day really well.

Slop

This week feels like it's lasted forever. I'm going to lie in the park tonight with my friends, drinking wine and watching The Breakfast Club under the stars. I opted for comfort today and, after seeing these photos, think I'm perhaps veering more towards sloppy rather than the casual chic I was going for. I knew I should have gone for the Ally Sheedy goth look. Oh well.

Dressing for Elton

I decided to go a bit D-I-S-C-O for Elton. He, of course, outdressed me. I sang louder than was appropriate and got a bit choked up during Our Song. Eh, I'm a girl afterall!

I've also decided to start showing you some of my work on the blog so you can get a feel for what I do for a living. I'm pretty lucky really... I spend my days producing and art directing shoots for a weekly fashion publication and 2 magazines. Here's something we shot a couple of weeks ago, I'm really pleased with how it turned out. The desaturated colors are so dreamy....

Wrap it up

I'm really busy on shoots for the next couple of days, but I wanted to show you this amazing bandage skirt I picked up at Forever21. It looks like a million bucks and set me back all of $20.
I'm going to see Elton John tomorrow. I've been trying to figure out what to wear... part of me wants to go nuts and find some gold sequins and huge glasses... the other part of me knows I'm going to be up in the cheap seats with a long walk to the car. Oh the never ending compromise between self-expression and practicality!

Dreamy

Feeling blue

I've got my pasty British legs out again!
Weekend plans include shooting my sister in the beautiful light that has been filling my backyard. Hunting for a new sofa, and cooking something devine.

Fresh Start

Fashion is a creative outlet for me. It forces me to wake up my creative mind each morning and contemplate how I'm feeling and what I want to say to the world, just by the action of getting dressed. But that is only one side of me. I'm also a photographer, a cook, a friend, an explorer and, up until recently, a lover, although hopefully, with time, that part of me will come back.
So this is a fresh start, and hopefully you'll get to know a bit more about me. Today I wore white because today is a clean slate.





Oh, and the thift fairies were cutting me some slack this week and offered up this amazing studded bag to cheer me up.

Turquoise and coral oh my!

The sun's been shining and I'm already pulling out my summer staples. This could be a huge mistake as by the time it get's to mid August I tend to be over all my summer clothes... but I'll just have to risk it. This dress is a couple of years old from French Connection, it's the perfect length and I really like the subtle pattern. I gave it my boho twist with an antique necklace that I love but, for some reason, hardly ever see's the light of day, and my trusty boots.

The sun'll come out

This is why I live in AZ... it's been in the 70's and 80's all week and I've already broken in my new sandals! At least the weather is cheering me up a bit, I've got a lot on my mind at the moment and I've been contemplating some changes in my life... I'll fill you in when I feel up to it.

Top of the crops

When I'm miserable I like to shop. Unfortuately, to add insult to injury, I'm flat broke at the moment, so I won't be able to wipe away the tears with a new pair of shoes. I had to suffice with a little trip to the Goodwill with my last $5. Thankfully the thrift fairies were looking down on me and I found this perfect little cropped blouse. Once I've done a few more crunches and basked in the sun for a couple of days then I'll dare to bare my midriff and wear it with a shredded up pair of 501 cut-off's. But until said time, I will be wearing it with some high-waisted slacks.

Ups and downs

Sorry for the lack of posts, my life is in pieces right now and I haven't felt much like getting dressed at all, let alone blogging about it. I had these photos stored away from last weekend when I was feeling better.
The tunic is a new purchase from Forever21, it's got a great ethnic print and I love how graphic it looks with black tights and a blazer.



I'm usually a bit lazy with my makeup and resort the safe smokey eye look. I actually bothered to use my liquid liner and paint my lips red and I love it! I really should experiment with makeup more. I have to admit, this look was inspired by the beautiful Hannah, she's like a modern day Bridget Bardot!

These boots were made for shoots...

I had a big 2 day shoot this week. I hate getting dressed for shoots, not only am I spending my days with models and stylists but I'm on my feet lugging around gear, so I have to find the perfect mix of style and comfort. Not to mention I have to figure it out at 6am (not a good time for me) as the call times for these things are usually ungodly. I think I did a pretty good job today, I didn't feel too schlepy around our gorgeous model, and I was practical enough to lug gear for the shooter. Now I just need to find 100 more outfits like it!

Experimenting with some cheap chic today. I've had this dress for a couple of years, it was all of 50 cents in a thrift store out in Sun City. The shoes were a bargain last year at Forever21 and the shades are a great Ray Ban knockoff also from F21.
