I can finally announce the big event at the museum that I've been so busy planning.
Two days after it's premiere at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week 2009, The September Issue will enjoy a special screening to benefit the Phoenix Art Museum's fashion collection. The evening of cocktails and couture is presented by the Nouveau Division of the Arizona Costume Institute.
The evening will include elegant red-carpet arrivals, stylish sounds by DJ Funkfinger, fashionable hors d'Ĺ“uvres by Postino Winecafe, Copper Square Kitchen and more, a no-host bar, and a screening of the film.
The feature-length documentary follows tastemaker and Vogue editrix Anna Wintour as the editor-in-chief and her team of editors, photographers, artists and stylists put together the September 2007 issue of Vogue. The 2007 issue was and remains the biggest issue ever of the standard-setting American fashion magazine, weighing more than four pounds and selling 13 million copies. Through the film, the Nouveau Division is thrilled to offer our guests an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at Fashion Week, at Vogue shoots and reshoots and at closed-door staff meetings between the men and women who create what has come to be known as the "Bible of fashion."
Director R.J. Cutler's film won the Grand Jury Prize for Excellence in Cinematography for documentaries at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and will premier in New York City September 11.
