Not Quite Chanel Clogs

Found myself some sky high platform clogs for spring and my ability to avoid black appears to be above average.

A Week of Love - Part 3: What you Wear Underneath

It's the big V day and although it might appear that I'm pandering to the male species with this post, I must state that this is for all the ladies who like to feel sexy for themselves. Most of the lingerie I wear isn't the traditional fare of men's magazines or the push-up extravaganzas that Victoria's Secret wants you to believe is sexy. No, the things I find alluring are girly, frilly and usually vintage inspired and I've built up quite a collection of dreamy pieces. There's nothing I love more than the feeling I get from wearing gorgeous undergarments. No matter how slovenly I look on the outside, if I'm wearing flirty undies then I feel fully dressed.

A Week of Love - Part 2: For the Boys

I like boys.
I like well dressed boys.
There are a few of them in my life that have asked for a little help getting dressed (and a few that don't need it) and, in the spirit of sharing the love, I give you this post.

I think men look their best when they don't try too hard (there's nothing less appealing than a hipster boy who's attempted to out-dress me). The basis of the outfit should lie in the realm of classic (think Cary Grant) and the finishing touches should have a twist.

Great places for inspiration:

I am known to don menswear every now and again. My tip for the ladies: Always wear something skimpy and sexy underneath your slouchy slacks to keep you feeling saucy... it's your little secret.

A Week of Love - Part 1: A Single Man

I'm a hopeless (or should I say hopeful) romantic and, although I  cannot abide the tradition of celebrating love for one measly day, I do enjoy any excuse to get loved up. So, in anticipation of Valentines Day, I've decided to dedicate a week of posts to the subject of love.

This weekend I went to see A Single Man. It was impeccable. I absolutely adored everything about the film. Every word in the script was necessary, the acting was superior, the ambience and pace of the film were completely in tune with the subject and the styling was mesmerizing (would we expect anything less from Tom Ford?).

It's a simple story about love. About love lost to be more precise, and weather there is life after that loss. In moments with strangers and friends there is lust and friendship, two important elements of love. It struck a cord with me and, without fear of overusing the word, I loved it.

The temptation to incorporate a little 60's styling into my outfit was irresistible after I saw this blonde beauty in a couple of scenes. So I drew on some eyeliner, back-combed my hair and tried a little bad girl biker jacket and leopard print mini.

Studio ideas

I have a spring fashion shoot coming up in the studio. Studio shoots always leave me at a bit of a loose end for ideas... we don't have the budget for elaborate sets so I rely a lot on the model to bring it to life. I got inspired by this shot and think, maybe, this time, a simple set might be just the thing.

More short dresses

So to continue with my 'how short is too short' line of thinking.... Here is a lovely little number that I picked up at Urban last summer. It barely grazes my bum and is probably inappropriate for work. It seems I am only drawn to things that are inappropriate for work, my blessing and my curse.

The Shorter the Better (dresses that is)

I went to see Phoenix last night and felt the need to channel a little Parisian chic. Scouring the blog world for the perfect concert outfit I realized how enamored I am with teeny tiny dresses, to me they are the epitome of French cuteness. My camera has unfortunately decided to act up so I don't have a record of the little black slip dress of an outfit that I eventually wore, so you'll just have to take my word for it; It was short and oh so cute.
